This reports interim results from monitoring a group of 15 low-energy houses in Manchester, UK, in order to assess the cost-effectiveness of different energy-conserving measures. It describes a system which provides economical monitoring with two levels of recording by mobile apparatus, and a simplified prediction technique which models the pattern of thermal behaviour, checked against field measurements. The method involves the use of a digital mini-computer connected to a passive electrical analogue circuit via digital-to-analogue convertors. |
