Contents: The effect of temperature, pH and organic content on the rate of dissipation of endosulfan in soil and water has been investigated. Endosulfan was extracted from water and soil with dichloromethane and methanol and analysed by gas chromatotgraphy (GC). In water endosulfan (α-and β-) decays at a faster rate with increase in temperature and pH. The results reveal that in soil also with increase in pH the persistence of both (α-and β-) endosulfan becomes less. Endosulfan persists longer in soil than in water.
