Paging: Volume 6 (2006) nr. 1 pages 33-40
Year: 2006
Contents: In Venezuela, the genetic materials that are used in the plantation establishment of oil palm come from the main seedproduction centers in the world located in Ivory Coast, New Guinea, Costa Rica, Brazil and Colombia. This implies thenecessity to study their adaptability to the agroecological conditions of the oil palm areas of the country. The objective ofthis work was to evaluate different growth traits in 17 progenies of oil palm in the Monagas state. When the interannualvariation (2004-2005) was analyzed it was found that progenies Deli x Ghana (98C187), Deli/Kigoma x Ekona (C98-18418)and Deli x Malawi (98C212) had the lesser growth in stem height. Progeny Deli x Mobai (98C237) had the biggest leafproduction by year. The trait, dry leaf weight was superior in progenies Deli x La Mé (98C120) y Deli x AVROS (98C166).The lesser rachis length were for different crosses ((98C237 y 98C331) of progenies Deli x Mobai. In general, it was foundvariability among seventeen progenies studied. Cluster analysis determined six and five groups for years 2004 and 2005,respectively.
