Contents: The hypothesis that fewer boys than girls participate in home-to-home exchanges with schools abroad is examined. The results of a survey of 28 secondary schools in 6 LEAs appear to support the hypothesis. Following on from this, possible reasons for the gender difference in participation rates are considered, together with measures which might lead to improved participation rates by boys.
